**About the role**

Become a member of our Cornwall Housing team as an Area Housing Officer (AHO) This role is an integral part of our mission to deliver customer-focussed housing, estate management, and lettings service to our tenants and leaseholders across Cornwall. In this role, you will play an active part in the management of our homes, acting as the eyes and ears of Cornwall Housing on our estates, being proactive in dealing with tenancy and community issues and safety issues, and being the focus in bringing together other resources and services for the benefit of the locality.

As an AHO, you will be creating strong community relationships, and will be responsible for delivering a consistent housing management service. You will also work in partnership with Corserv Facilities, the Council, and externally with partner agencies such as the Police and housing associations, in order to deliver service improvements, manage individual cases, and support new ways of working.

Our Area Housing Officers operate within a geographical area and will be a visible presence within their “patches”. The majority of time will be spent in the patch. We currently have two patches available, which are Liskeard, and the Truro/Falmouth area. There are also hybrid working opportunities available.

Some of the key responsibilities are:

- To manage a designated patch of homes meeting performance targets and tenant/leaseholder aspirations
- Provide the highest level of customer service at all times, seek to resolve issues at the first point of contact, deal with enquiries effectively and communicate in an open and transparent manner
- Ensure that our customers are at the heart of what we do, we listen and act on what we are being told through bespoke improvement plans in consultation with customers and key stakeholders
- To be the ambassador for Cornwall Housing within our communities, building relationships with key stakeholders

**About you**

We are looking for you to:

- Be educated to ‘A’ Level or NVQ3 level or with equivalent experience
- Demonstrate sufficient experience of working in a housing related field or equivalent, with a working knowledge of landlord and tenant law, housing and welfare benefit legislation and housing allocations and a working knowledge of AntiSocial Behaviour Act 2003
- Have the knowledge to refer tenants to the correct sources of benefits and welfare advice
- Demonstrate an ability to be able to respond appropriately and competently to enquiries from the public in order to maximise housing opportunities for individual clients through the provision of advice, information and support. Ensuring customer care remains at the forefront of the business
