Brackley, United Kingdom Mercedes AMG PETRONAS Full time

**Experimental Measurement and Data Specialist**
**Brackley**
At the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, a group of passionate and determined people work to design, develop, manufacture and race the cars driven by seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton and rising star George Russell.

To be a part of our team, it does not matter whether you already have an interest in motorsport or not: we are looking for people who are passionate about reaching their full potential and are excited about constantly learning. We are highly focused on equal opportunities and pride ourselves on our strong, inclusive values and culture.

**The role**:
Based within the Design Office, you will work closely with specialists in different disciplines using your experimental and data analysis skills to improve our ability to learn from accurate and reliable measurements. Your contribution will be key to achieving our ambition to win multiple future Formula One championships and to bring the America’s Cup home to Britain.

**Purpose**:
To improve our ability to learn from accurate and reliable measurements.

**What you’ll be doing**:

- To collaborate with experts from various disciplines on a project, bringing your practical experimental experience to improve our testing practices, procedures, and measurement capabilities to increase our learning from measurements.
- To recognise opportunities to improve quality of experiments and measurements and raise them with HODQ for discussion and action where appropriate.
- To build strong cross-functional relationships and technical respect.
- To demonstrate through your work, the importance of high-quality experiments and measurements that yield data that is usable and trustworthy.
- To train and advise designers on good practice when designing with data and learning in mind.
- To work with the HODQ on the development of automated means to highlight inconsistencies in the data, and to the output from our simulations, such that this can be used to create ‘Data faults’.
- To work with the HODQ and other stakeholders to improve sensor/experiment ‘up time’, with the long-term aim that every experiment we do gathers reliable and accurate data first time.
- To investigate and evaluate new technologies which could be used to improve our measurements.

**What we are looking for**:

- Degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Physics. PhD desirable
- Hands-on experience in designing, conducting, and analysing experiments
- A can-do attitude in overcoming the inevitable challenges that experimental work raises
- Skilled in data analysis and relating this back to physical understanding
- Experience with modern programming languages and MATLAB
- Understands data acquisition principles
- Knowledge of sensors and electronics an advantage
- Grounded in Engineering principles
- Attention to detail
- Self-motivated and able to take the initiative
- Ability to work without supervision
- Ability to work in a pressurised environment
- Good personal communication skills with people at all levels
- Tenacious, curious, and creative

**What do we offer**:
At the heart of our performance are our people. Every member of our team has a voice and plays their part in contributing to our successes on and off the racetrack.

We take pride in creating an innovative, collaborative and high-performance culture where all of our team members are respected, empowered and valued.

Our riverside campus is powered by 100% renewably sourced energy and features an on-site gym and exercise studio, subsidised restaurant and on-site parking with EV chargers available.

We offer a competitive and attractive package of benefits including a generous bonus scheme, Mercedes car lease scheme, private medical cover, life assurance and 25 days holiday. We pride ourselves on our family-friendly environment and employee well-being programme.
