We are looking for a speech and language therapist to join us in the Haringey Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Service in our Deafness Team. The post is based in Blanche Nevile School for Deaf Children, which provides a sign bilingual, child-centred approach to learning for nursery, primary and secondary aged deaf children. Blanche Nevile is on 2 separate sites and is co-located with a mainstream primary school and a mainstream secondary school. We work closely with school staff and the rest of the multi-disciplinary team.

Haringey Children’s Speech and Language Therapy team are a well-established service with a good reputation for providing high quality speech and language therapy to our clients, alongside a friendly team and workplace. The Haringey Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Service is part of the wider Speech and Language Therapy Service across Haringey, Camden, Islington and Barnet, and is managed by Whittington Health. The Service places a strong emphasis on personal and professional development, providing regular supervision and support.

We work within a large specialist speech and language team that supports deaf children in Haringey, Camden and Islington across a range of specialist educational settings. You would benefit from the support, specialist knowledge and supervision from experienced therapists within the team.

The post holder will be expected to support their team, department, and organisation to achieve the Trust’s Values in their day-to-day work. The post holder will achieve this by
- Providing a comprehensive Speech and Language Therapy service to children presenting with a range of speech, language and communication needs in the borough.
- Independently managing a paediatric caseload and delivering integrated therapeutic packages of care
- Devising child centred speech, language and communication therapy programmes and care plans for clients
- Contributing to multi agency care pathways for children with special educational need
- Providing feedback, guidance and training to parents/carers and other professionals regarding language and communication needs and strategies to facilitate children’s development.
- Committing to collaborative working and actively supporting and liaising with other health, education, and social care professionals
- Supporting peers and colleagues by being an effective team member whilst working on own initiative

**Key Responsibilities**:
Patient care

To be responsible for clinical delivery of SLT service to a caseload of children with a range of speech, language and communication needs within mainstream schools around the borough of Barnet.

Complete assessments, write individual programmes, implement groups, provide specialist advice and resources and review outcomes with a functional based focus.

To work collaboratively with children, families and other profession
