We are recruiting for an Econometric Manager within the regulatory finance team, reporting to the Regulatory Finance Manager. The Econometric Manager role is a critical component of securing the best outcome for the next price control review. The responsibilityof managing the internal review of the benchmark modelling will require high-quality assessment of the regulatory benchmarking models, extensive engagement both internally and externally to inform detailed analysis and to secure a better financial outcome.

We are looking for a self-motivated and inquisitive individual who is able to provide comprehensive understanding, challenge and determine alternative solutions for the regulatory benchmark modelling. The individual must demonstrate an acute attention todetail, timely and effective challenge of the regulatory benchmarking models.

key responsibilities will include;
- The primary point of engagement with the regulators on econometric analysis for benchmarking gas networks’ cost efficiency, developing and communicating SGN’s position on complex topics in a compelling manner.
- Managing the corporate benchmarking process. This will require a detailed understanding of the business and using that understanding to inform modelling decisions, interpreting results and delivering actionable management insights.
- Identify key sensitivities that have a material impact on SGN’s financial position, and gathering a robust evidence base that supports a better outcome.
- Evaluating the approaches, or expected approaches, of other networks and how they may impact the modelling outcomes and SGN’s financial position.
- Providing assurance on the accuracy of all modelling outputs produced both internally and shared by third parties.
- Organising, managing and motivating a small team

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Excellent analytical skills and expert knowledge in statistical techniques as applied to benchmarking
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage a highly pressured programme
- The ability to build a good understanding of the SGN business to be able to interpret the outputs of the modelling and provide instruction of ways forward in terms of alternative modelling parameters
- The ability to communicate complex topics to a lay audience
- Be able to coordinate and effectively communicate with working groups internally and externally to the business and effectively manage the benchmarking process
- Ability to focus and to reprioritise requirements as new information comes forward
- Strong time-management skills and prioritisation
- Advanced Microsoft excel skills and ideally an understanding of Stata modelling software
