Regulatory and Industry Affairs Advisor (London or Bridgend, Wales)

At ROCKWOOL UK (RW-UK), part of the Danish-headquartered ROCKWOOL Group, we manufacture insulation products designed to meet the challenges of modern living and tackle issues including climate change, noise pollution and fire safety.

We are actively engaged in discussions to drive quality and sustainability in the built environment and are looking for a Regulatory and Industry Affairs Advisor to join our team.

This role involves grappling with complex technical information and creating well-evidenced and persuasive submissions to policy-makers and industry. It requires a scientific mind combined with outstanding communication skills, written and verbal.

This is a new role within our Public Affairs and Sustainability department and the post-holder will develop key relationships, represent us in industry and regulatory fora, and be integral to our work on building performance and sustainability.

Job Purpose & Scope

To support RW-UK’s public and regulatory affairs programme, including representing our public policy positions in relevant forums, influencing construction material standards and regulations, and leading a defined programme of industry engagement relating to building performance and sustainability.

Key Result Areas
- Delivery of a successful public and industry affairs programme
- Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Developing deep knowledge of RW-UK’s products and the regulatory and industry environment

Key Responsibilities & Job Content
- Managing effective regulatory and industry affairs activities in line with RW-UK’s commercial priorities
- Developing and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of the UK public policy environment, regulatory framework and industry landscape, as relevant to RW-UK’s business
- Proactively providing expert advice on industry and regulatory matters within RW-UK
- Developing sophisticated argumentation and positions to underpin RW-UK’s influencing work
- Identifying relevant engagement opportunities and growing RW-UK’s regulatory and industry affairs networks
- Securing relationships and influence with relevant external groups (trade associations, expert bodies and institutes, commercial organisations, etc)
- Supporting activities on the UK mirror groups responsible for the BS and EN standards applicable to RW-UK

- Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification in a scientific field such an engineering, architecture or similar
