Job overview

The post holder will provide managerial and professional leadership and be responsible and accountable for the delivery of a high quality, patient centered nursing service that meet the needs of the children and families we serve. The post holder will work closely with the Clinical Director, Senior Manager, Lead Nurses and Service/Team Managers in the coordination and delivery of services in accordance with National and Trust Health Strategies.

Main duties of the job

Together with the Divisional Director of Nursing and Director of Nursing, lead the strategic direction of the whole group and take a lead role in negotiating, identifying, and implementing plans, which contain the required detail for services to be managed and delivered effectively.

Provide professional nursing advice and leadership for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Nursing and Quality Strategies that deliver a high quality, child and family centered services. Encourage and enable the advancement and development of Children and families nursing services and practice, through personal and professional development which is aligned to strategic direction of the learning and development team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC Pin within the next 2-3 months. Please note an NMC PRN Pin is not a full NMC Pin and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

- NMP qualification

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
- Significant experience including extensive experience within speciality at a senior level in nursing level.
- Evidence of extensive expert professional knowledge in area supplemented by specialist managerial / leadership training and CPD.
- Evidence of leadership development.
- Demonstrates highly developed specialist expertise and knowledge underpinned by theory acquired through CPD.
- Detailed knowledge of the NHS agenda, with explicit understanding of current issues in allied health professional and nursing.
- Experience of using Healthcare Improvement models in practice.
