**About the Cabot Learning Federation**

**Job Summary**
The Cleaning Supervisor will lead a team to ensure the provision of a high standard of cleaning. As well as their own cleaning responsibilities they will ensure cleaning undertaken meets agreed standards and the Academy is a sanitary and safe environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**

**Relationships**
- Maintain effective working relationships with your team and line manager to enable the provision of a comprehensive cleaning service.
- Maintain good working relationships with other school staff and communicate appropriately with students and visitors to the Academy.

**People Management**
- Lead and motivate team of cleaners effectively on a day to day basis. Ensure they are appropriately trained, provide support and guidance, prioritise tasks and quality assure their work. Induction of New Starters, Assisting with Nimble & Access People to all staff.
- Allocate work to the team effectively, ensuring any absent colleagues are covered to allow full delivery of the cleaning service at all times.
- Ensure all cleaning staff have the necessary materials and equipment to enable them to carry out their work.

**Resource Management**
- Responsible for your own cleaning products and equipment, report faulty apparatus and other maintenance requirements to your line manager in a timely manner.
- Ensure all cleaning products and apparatus are used and stored correctly and safely in line with COSHH regulations.
- Ensure supplies of cleaning materials and equipment are sufficient. May be responsible for stock control and ordering of cleaning supplies.
- Use all cleaning materials and equipment in a safe and proper manner in accordance with instructions, COSHH regulations and specifications provided.
- Wear protective clothing as required and instructed.
- Comply with instructions relating to safety, security and confidentiality.

**Decision Making**
- Take appropriate action to identify, evaluate and minimise any risks to health, safety and security in the immediate working environment. Supervise safe working practices and report any health and safety concerns to your supervisor or appropriate member of staff.

**Work Demands**
- Clean allocated areas to a set standard and within specified timeframes.
- Assist with the organisation of and participate in deep clean activities within the school holidays or as required.
- Be flexible to the changing demands of the role for example covering absent colleagues or undertaking one off cleaning tasks.

**Physical Demands**
- Manual demands will vary from basic cleaning tasks to higher levels of physical effort including some bending and lifting which may include the movement of cleaning equipment and school furniture.
- Regular use of machines such as vacuum cleaners and buffing machines will be required.

**Working Conditions**
- Cleaning duties will take place within the Academy and would include vacuuming carpeted areas, polishing, sweeping/mopping floors, disposing of rubbish and cleaning of toilets as well as other duties as instructed.
- **Accountability**

You are accountable to, and will report to the Principal as appropriate. You are expected to set the highest personal standards of performance for yourself, and with the support of your line manager, you are responsible for ensuring your own learning and development by way of work-based and /or other methods of study. Success will be measured through: Performance achievement of individual targets within the annual Appraisal process.
