Principal Engineer - Full Time - Contract - Reading
About the role
As a Principal Engineer, you will be supporting the profitable growth of our client's business by being Primarily responsible for supporting consumer and business edge through IP aggregation, core, backbone, interconnect and peering up to (and including) theData Centre (Firewall, Load Balancing and Switching). You will be working as part of a high profile and functioning team, providing expert level support and delivering innovative solutions. There shall also be instances where you will be working alongsideboth Data and ISP Systems Support colleagues to provide a complete E2E support function within our clients CNO. Having a Balance of competing BAU and project demands to deliver new and upgraded services on time and providing both technical and task leadershipwithin the Data Support team for junior members of the team, would be massively required.

Our client is currently looking for a new recruit in joining their Technology & Innovation - Operations Team, please read on You can also ask our friendly recruitment team any questions you may have about the role, between 8:30am-5:00pm Monday to Friday.
Shifts: Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)
The must haves:

- Extensive experience in supporting carrier /enterprise grade network infrastructure on Juniper, Nokia, Cisco.
- Comfortable in a multi-vendor, multi-protocol, ISP environment.
- In-depth understanding of underlying network fundamentals not limited to TCP/IP, Routing, Switching and the OSI model.
- Process oriented skills for troubleshooting, problem solving and problem resolution.
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to adapt to technical and non-technical audiences (upto VP/MD level).

Other stuff we're potentially looking for:

- Certifications or suitable real-world experience to cover Juniper JNCIP-SP, Nokia NRS II, Cisco CCNP (R&S, SP, DC)
- Understanding of HFC, DOCSIS and CMTS technologies.
- Previous experience in a support role in a Tier 1 Service Provider.
- Degree in a related field.
- From a Telecommunications or IT background.
- Passionate individual who has the ability to make an immediate impact.
