**What are we looking for**

Reporting to an Executive Director, the Head of QHSE has responsibility for the overall direction and management of the QHSE function, providing strategic and operational leadership, ensuring full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality best practice and legislative requirements.

Responsible for setting the standards and strategy for a positive Health, Safety and Quality culture and continued development and implementation of the strategic plan for QHSE across the company, ensuring successful delivery of Key Performance Indicators and business objectives, whilst complying with regulation and achieving commercial success.

Leading and driving a continual business performance improvement programme through significant change. You will lead on maintaining ISO 14001/45001 accreditation and continually improving our corrective action capability and timescales as well as contributing to our Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP).

It goes without saying that you will be the acknowledged source of expert advice on QHSE matters and have significant experience of influencing change in complex working environments.

**Responsibilities**
- Continued development and implementation of a strategic plan for QHSE across the company
- Leadership and management of the QHSE teams
- Support the senior management team in setting, agreeing and implementing KPIs for occupational safety, health and welfare and support managers in monitoring progress against set objectives
- Ensure continuous improvement of QHSE policies in liaison with key role holders within the company
- Develop an over-arching Quality strategy designed to fully support our manufacturing operations and implement the necessary change to drive our culture change in relation to quality management
- Provide Board updates on risk and compliance with health, safety and environmental management legislation including provision of the annual health and safety Board report
- Liaise with stakeholders (Customers, Suppliers, Contractors, H&S enforcement, external accreditation bodies and other parties to maintain compliance/best practice across all areas of the business
- Liaise with relevant members of the Executive team in the development of risk management protocols
- Provide guidance to managers on Health and Safety and training needs, supporting HR in sourcing/delivering relevant training programmes
- Develop, in liaison with the Academy, an adequate and robust programme for training from a quality and HSE perspective, to support a clear framework of mandatory competency levels for all key roles and that the safety and quality culture is promoted in all training delivered to colleagues
- Ensure a robust accident/incident investigation process is in place in order to promote effective claims and legal compliance management
- Develop, in liaison with HR and Comms, effective channels for two-way engagement on health and safety culture with colleagues
- Develop behavioural safety initiatives throughout the business
- Establish an effective risk assessment and management process, including systems for ongoing monitoring and review
- Lead ISO 45001/14001/9001 certification and other relevant standards as required
- Analyse audit findings, propose and implement initiatives for improvement and set and implement QHSE targets and objectives for the team and the company
- The creation, implementation and continuous improvement of documented Quality policies, procedures and risk assessments
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding Risk Analysis, Physical, Asset and Quality
- Oversee and manage the quality of purchased and manufactured parts and resolution of root cause and implementation of corrective action
- Oversee the co-ordination and control outsourced calibration of test equipment, maintenance of manufacturing site equipment and building infrastructure

**About You**

**Knowledge and Experience**
- NEBOSH Dip/NCRQ/Degree or equivalent
- CMIOSH Chartered Safety Practitioner
- Chartered quality professional of the CQI (Chartered Quality Institute)
