Scotland, United Kingdom Scottish Water Full time

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.

It’s not every job where you make a difference for the people of Scotland. But it’s what’s behind every job here. The work we do keeps Scotland’s water flowing, from reservoir to tap - and from sewer to treatment plant.

Join us as a Product Owner within our Alliance Management team. Together we’ll protect Scotland’s more precious natural resource: our water.

What you’ll do

As Product Owner, you’ll play a leading role in transforming the way that Alliance Management and its Alliance Partners deliver projects and programmes of work. You’ll lead an Integrated Team of multi-disciplinary experts, including Alliance Partners, Framework Consultants, and colleagues from across the business, and have end-to-end accountability for the delivery of a diverse portfolio of work.

You’ll be empowered to make decisions and use your collaborative leadership approach to drive performance and achievement, remove blockers and deliver for our customers. You’ll also handle project reviews and reporting, so we can learn what works best and keep on delivering more for Scotland. It’s all in a day’s work.

You’ll set the tone for your team, building a strong culture that chimes with the aims of Scottish Water and delivers on project targets. You’ll also act as a role model and mentor to help team members grow their skills with development plans and coaching.

What you’ll need

A dyed-in-the-gantt-chart project manager, you’ll have a record of successful delivery, ideally in the water industry and backed up by an APMP or equivalent project management certification.

You’ll be juggling the interests of multiple stakeholders, so you’ll need to be someone who’s good at networking and building strong working relationships. Making friends and influencing people is just what you do. There’s no formal qualification for that.

To meet our goals, we need to embed new practices and ways of working. You will need to be able to manage change and have experience of continuous improvements, as well as more transformational change programmes.

A driving licence is non-negotiable. You'll be based at one of our main office hubs in the Central Belt - Stepps, Edinburgh or Dundee, but you'll need your hi vis on standby for regular site visits.

What you’ll get:
While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.

This is a full time (37 hours per week) role, Monday to Friday. You’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take time off to volunteer in your community.

When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working. For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), and life assurance.

As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash - handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.

The not-so-small print

The starting salary for this role will be between £45,873 and £58,418.

A few final things worth knowing

Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. We’re very used to making adjustments, so please don’t be afraid to ask.

As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, it’s important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you don’t already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months.
