Casual Swimming Instructors

We are seeking qualified, experienced Swimming Instructors to coach pupils of varying abilities and ages in all aspects of swimming.

Current ASA or STA Level 2 Teachers Certificate is essential together with a current Swimming Teachers Rescue Qualification or current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and preferably some experience in a teaching capacity.

You will be required to attend staff training and meetings as required and to maintain and update your coaching qualifications whilst working a varying number of hours per week to suit the needs of the business.

The role will also involve liaison with the Swim Academy Manager and discussion with other members of the team to ensure close monitoring and planning of operational requirements, policy matters and training.

As a casual employee you undertake specific engagements and have the right to choose, without penalty, whether to accept the offer of engagement, but having accepted, you have the responsibility to come to work. Your engagement automatically terminates whenever the shift ends, and Castle Point Borough Council has no obligation to offer you any other engagements in the future. You will be expected to always follow recognised procedures when on duty. Duties and responsibilities will be as detailed in the Job Description.

As far as possible, you will be given reasonable notice of the department’s requirements but clearly the variable nature of the work will limit the ability to do this in some instances.
