The London Ambulance Service NHS Trust, the UK’s largest ambulance service has brought their Make Ready/Vehicle Preparation function back in house.

The Quartermaster role is critical in ensuring that vehicles are prepared, available and in the right place at the right time to meet operational requirements and deliver high quality patient care, reducing harm and maximizing efficiencies.

The purpose of this role is to work as required across a range of locations to lead and motivate a team to make ambulances ready for responding to emergency calls and to ensure that we can provide a high quality service, meeting both performance and quality standards are delivered across London.

The post holder will be required to supervise the delivery of different functions including cleaning, packing and driving and ensuring that Trust standards are met and maintained. The will also be expected to undertake these tasks as required along with stock control and maintenance of the electronic ordering and receipting system. These positions are focused on providing resilience and cover for when there are gaps due to absence and so a high degree of flexibility to move work location as required is needed.

The post holder will need to be a C1 driver and able to work across London at a number of the 15 locations where the function is undertaken.

The shift pattern is day shifts either

Sunday to Wednesday 0700-1900 equating to 42hr/week

Or

Thursday to Saturday 0700-1900 equating to 32hr /week

The post holder will be responsible supervising a team of make Ready staff ensuring that vehicles are ready to use, meet standards of cleanliness and have all required equipment on them.
