Nursery Cook

The Old Barn Day Nursery is looking for a Nursery Cook to join our friendly and happy team. We’d love to hear from you if you are a team player, enthusiastic about planning and providing healthy and nutritious food for children and you have the following skills/knowledge:
- Experience of working in a kitchen
- A food safety qualification
- High levels of organisation and communication skills
- Experience of managing allergies and intolerances
**A relevant catering qualification and experience of managing budgets is desirable but not essential.**
This is a wide and varied role but as an overview you will:
- To provide a nutritious and well-balanced diet for the children.
- To ensure children’s dietary needs, particularly serious allergies, are met.
- To contribute to the menu development, adhering to the ‘home cooked’ food ethos.
- To manage the weekly food ordering and stock rotation/control.
- To maintain high standards of hygiene.
- To adhere to food hygiene policies, standard operating processes and legislation.

Essential Skills/Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role
- A team player
- A positive attitude
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of basic health and safety and food safety
- Willingness to undertake further training as required
- Ability to undertake all physical aspects of the position
Desirable Skills/Qualifications:
- Previous experience of working in a childcare setting
- Knowledge of safeguarding and first aid.
- Catering qualification.
**Salary**: £10.50-£10.80 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
