The screener grader will also assess fundus images to detect diabetic eye disease and give a grade for the patient.
This will be completed at Primary, Secondary and Arbitraitional levels.

Apart from these key duties the screener grader will maintain a clinic and ensure that the patients are safe and seen in a timely manner, both at the department base and community based settings, such as GP practices and community hospitals.

The screener grader will be expected to work with IP Optomize screening software to enable them to move the patients through the patient pathway.
Therefore a moderate level of IT experience will be required.

The screener grader will care for many different cohorts of patients, and as such they will adapt their working practice to ensure each patient receives equitable care based on their needs, in line with national standards and Trust policies.

The hours for this post are Mon, Tues, Wed 8am - 4pm and maybe required to work some evenings or weekends

To undertake in a polite and professional manner the screening of diabetic patients independently and unsupervised.

To work as part of the Diabetic Retinal Screening Team and integrate well with others to provide an efficient, consistent and pleasant working environment for all.

Extract and accurately record health information from patients. Take and record Visual Acuity

Administration of dilation drops in patient eyes

To take high quality photographs to enable grading to take place in accordance with National Screening Committee guidelines

To treat all patients and work colleagues in a polite and courteous manner

To be involved in and adopt any changes to the Diabetic Retinal Screening Process.
