Speech and Language Therapist Apprentice

Horsham, United Kingdom Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust Full time

A rewarding opportunity is available to undertake a four-year apprenticeship for the Speech and Language Therapy Degree in the September 2024 cohort.

The apprenticeship scheme allows staff to complete a qualification while working, mixing both online studying at university and 'on-the-job' learning. Your tuition fees will all be paid for by the apprenticeship scheme.

If successful, you will attend University of Sheffield remotely. More details on their course here BSc Speech and Language Therapist Degree Apprenticeship | Allied Health Professions, Nursing and Midwifery | The University of Sheffield

The course will allow you to develop your skills and experience whilst providing excellent person-centred care. You will be expected to work as a member of a designated clinical team, delivering healthcare which focuses on the needs of the patient by carrying out specific tasks and responsibilities as directed by registered practitioners.

You will train to become a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, learning both adult and paediatric aspects of the profession through studying and placements, while working in Adult SALT services in Horsham/Hurstpierpoint/Crawley as your home base.

SALTs are allied health professionals. They work closely with carers and other professionals, such as nurses, occupational therapists and doctors.
In their work with adult patients, they help with communication or eating and swallowing problems following neurological impairments and degenerative conditions, including stroke, head injury, Parkinson's disease and dementia, as well as stammering.

We encourage and expect all staff to actively promote and adhere to our values in every aspect of their work.

Caring for people in ways we would want for our loved ones.

Achieving ambitions
For patients and service users, colleagues, our teams and our organisation.

Working together
Forging strong links with our patients, the public and our health and care partners, so we can rise to the challenges we face together.

Delivering excellence
Our patients and partners deserve nothing less.
