**Job Summary**
As the Mashman you will be responsible for the successful delivery of production operations within Annandale Distillery focusing primarily although not exclusively on Mashman duties. You will remain vigilant in maintaining a progressive and fully maintained production environment and a hospitable guest experience. You will be proactive in raising your level of knowledge and maintain the highest of standards in all areas of your main duties. You will also maintain the aesthetic of Annandale Distillery and deliver the highest standards practically achievable in all areas. You will enhance the guest experience by providing exceptional service and by being knowledgeable in all aspects of production, imparting this to both guests and staff when needed.

**Duties**:
**Following your training without deviation**:
- Malt Deliveries
- Milling
- Mashing
- Monitor and record with documentation.
- Throughout the week, according to a schedule that suits production, you must clean the Mashtun once emptied. Undertake a caustic clean of the Mashtun and Hot Liquor tanks when required.
**Health & Safety**:
- You are required at all times to carry out your duties in accordance with the relevant and prevailing Health and Safety at Work legislation.
- You are required to follow all safe systems of work and site rules, implemented to protect your health and safety and that of others.
- Protective clothing and other equipment which may be issued for your protection because of the nature of your job must be worn and used at all appropriate times.
- Details of Annandale Distillery’s health and safety requirements are specified in the Company’s Health and Safety Policy document. You are required to read this document and to certify that you have done so.
- Report any misuse of equipment and non-compliant employee actions that could result or may have resulted in Health and Safety Issues.
- Report any sub-specification or dilapidated equipment that is impacting upon or may impact the Health and Safety policy
**Specific Duties**:
- Help maintain all records associated with Scotch whisky production, as required by HMRC and the Spirit Drinks Verification Scheme. Submitting them appropriately to Annandale’s HMRC compliance administrator.
- Remain vigilant in terms of compliance with Spirit Drinks Verification Scheme.
- Remain vigilant in in terms of compliance with Annandale Distillery’s licenses issued by SEPA.
- Assist the Head of Production with general administration associated with production when required.
- Undertake maintenance work where appropriate, or report maintenance issues immediately to the Head of Production and/or the General Manager.
- Identify personal training needs and obtain necessary training, as appropriate.
**General**:
- Implement the wishes of the General Manager and Head of Production, as appropriate.
- Advise the Head of Production, General Manager, Managing Director and other Directors of the MMR Group, as appropriate, on matters relating to the operation of the Distillery and otherwise keep them informed on relevant matters.
- Protect the owner’s investment by maintaining Annandale Distillery to a high standard and keeping it secure.
- Ensure that Annandale Distillery is a safe and pleasant place to work and visit.
- Interact efficiently and effectively with all employees of Annandale Distillery Company Limited, other employees of the MMR Group and its subsidiaries and do so in a constructive, positive and pleasant manner.
- Where appropriate, provide strong, positive and compassionate leadership to colleagues at Annandale Distillery and set a good example in terms of work ethic, conduct, timeliness and attitude.
- Maintain positive relationships with our immediate neighbours (particularly the owners of Distillery Farm) and the local community.
- Take safe delivery of distillery consumables such as malt, yeast, casks, cleaning materials, when required.
- Organise and maintain all records associated with Scotch whisky production, as required by HMRC and submit all returns accurately and in a timely manner, as required under the appropriate regulations.
- Please note this job requires a large amount of manual handling.
- Ad hoc duties as required.
The foregoing is a list of your main duties. Whilst comprehensive, it is not exhaustive, so you may be asked to conduct other related duties. You should expect to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday to Sunday, 5 days per week, according to the production schedules from the Head of Production.
Pay: £27,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
