Head of Rewilding Enterprise

We have developed an exciting new strategy and set ambitious goals for 2030 and we are now looking for a new Head of Enterprise to strengthen our Team.**

Derbyshire Wildlife Trust believe that nurturing nature-based economies is the key to providing long-term, sustainable livelihoods for communities while simultaneously enhancing and restoring wild nature within our operational rewilding landscapes.

We believe there are currently exciting opportunities to fund the delivery of large scale rewilding projects. We have recently purchased the first two of a series of large-scale rewilding sites, funded through a blended finance model, including Biodiversity Net Gain. We are also leading a large-scale and growing multi-partner rewilding initiative in the Peak District National Park (“Wild Peak”), as well as leading the UK’s largest urban rewilding initiative at Allestree Park in Derby.

To support the development of a large portfolio of new and exciting opportunities for landscape scale recovery and rewilding, we are now seeking an exceptional and highly motivated individual to become our new Head of Rewilding Enterprise, spearheading our enterprise strategy, with a focus on rewilding.

The Head of Rewilding Enterprise will provide strategic and operational leadership of the expanding Enterprise Team and the portfolio of current enterprise initiatives, as well as developing and delivering a programme of commercial initiatives, focussing on species reintroduction and rewilding.

You will report to the Director of Natural Solutions and be a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

**Responsibilities**

In this role, you'll own responsibility growing and developing new and existing enterprises:

- **Developing and implementing a strategic plan to develop and grow our rewilding enterprise work **It will be your job to lead on developing, growing, and delivering a programme of profitable species reintroduction and rewilding projects, working closely with a wide range of stakeholders, partners, and communities.
- **Develop new and innovative ways to fund rewilding and nature’s recovery including** developing new sources of green finance as well as business models related to nature-based tourism development (e.g. training, lodges, safari’s, wellbeing retreats), land management, natural grazing, green social prescribing and much more.
- **Leadership -**you’ll be a trusted advisor, coach and source of information and support for the Trust’s staff, Trustees and volunteers; ensuring our work is evidence based, managing the monitoring of enterprise impact, both in terms of economic and wider benefits, publishing the impact of our work and keeping up to date with emerging science on species reintroductions, species recovery and rewilding.
- **Improve our Impact** - you will leverage our platform and reputation, playing an active role in developing links with partners and the wider sector as well as regularly promoting species reintroduction and recovery projects and opportunities via media and social media.
- **Build Diverse Community Enterprise Partnerships** you will help to drive the development of the Trust’s networks locally and regionally in an inclusive way; continually involving and benefiting local people and communities.
- **Inclusive Culture** you will inspire an agile, inclusive and creative culture, embracing new technology and adopting fresh approaches to support delivery of our ambitious aims, ensuring we are able to harness opportunities, secure new funding sources, remove barriers and overcome challenges.
- **Promoting Participation** You’ll be responsible for driving inclusive participation, developing programmes that promote diversity, strengthen communities and support inclusion.
