This is your chance to get a real taste of retail, as you're exposed to every facet of our business over the 12 months of your placement.
Don’t be fooled by the word ‘Buying’ here. This large National department covers every aspect of the product lifecycle, from concept to shelf. You’ll choose from three specialisms; Corporate Responsibility, Quality Assurance and Marketing.
Your time will be spent in that specific department, where you’ll work on personal and team projects, build relationships and solve problems in a complex environment. Yes, it can be daunting - but it is also a fantastic opportunity to learn and be inspired by a company that’s so different to all the others.

This is your chance to get a real taste of retail; from spending time in store in your first few weeks to working as a key part of the Leaflet & Brochure content team delivering your own publication
It can be daunting - but it can also be a fantastic opportunity to learn and be inspired by a company that’s so different to all the others.
We’re a multi award-winning marketing department and we are proud of the successful campaigns which have made us a truly world-class team
On this fast-paced placement, you’ll get immersed in the day-to-day workings of the Leaflet & Brochure Channel, managing your own leaflets from start to finish, whilst also working alongside other Channels such as Press, POS, TV and Digital. You’ll also work closely with our Buying Department and External Creative Agency, giving you a great insight into the wider business.
Having your own dedicated role within the team means more responsibility, and more chance to make an impact on your placement year
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Planning and development of Weekly Specialbuys Leaflets and Seasonal Brochures
- Marketing agency management
- Working to strict deadlines whilst managing multiple projects
- Presenting content and ideas to Buying Team confidently, coordinating feedback and gaining approval on matters such as product copy, retails and images
- Coordinating and managing the Leaflet from start to end within set timeframes and briefs
**Please note that our Placement Programmes are for university students currently studying towards an undergraduate degree, who are seeking a 12-month sandwich placement before their final year of study.**
**You’ll need to be working towards a 2:1 degree, have 96 UCAS points from your top 3 A-Levels (or equivalent qualifications), possess a driving licence and have the right to work in the UK.
