Our Croydon team are currently recruiting an Acoustic Technician Apprentice to join one our UK teams of over 40 acousticians working on an enviable project portfolio of environmental and building acoustics work thus providing a wide range of career development opportunities. Our UK team are members of the Association of Noise Consultants and Sponsor of the Institute of Acoustics.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The intention is to enrol you on the Acoustic Technician Apprenticeship Scheme (Level 4) at London South Bank University and join our team of over 40 acousticians undertaking noise and vibration surveys for a variety of developments including world class music and entertainment venues, educational establishments, hospitals and transport schemes.

**Responsibilities will include but are not limited to**:

- Planning and undertaking measurement surveys, analysing the data and preparing survey reports
- Creating acoustic prediction models using specialist software
- Solving problems
- Undertaking calculations
- Writing reports.
- Attending design team/client meetings and working alongside architects, engineers, planners and other specialists.

The apprenticeship would be full time with day release to London South Bank University (LSBU) and the course duration expected to be minimum 18 months. The Apprenticeship comprises at least 20% formal learning. Travel expenses incurred to and from University for the purposes of the course will be covered by AECOM.

You would be supported by a dedicated mentor who will ensure that you get all your on-the-job training. You would also gain exposure to the wider acoustic team who will be available to assist in your career development.

TRAINING

AECOM allows individuals to develop professionally whilst working within a positive team environment, where learning and development is actively promoted and supported.

Within a structured programme of professional development, we will give you a wide range of technical training and day-to-day support to allow you to develop skills and take on increased responsibility across a broad variety of project types and sizes. You will be supported by a mentor who will check that you get all your on-the-job training. You will also gain exposure to the wider acoustic team who will be available to assist in your career development.

You will also have access to all AECOM’s university training materials covering every aspect of the roles we undertake as a business, from health and safety to business acumen.

The successful applicant will also join AECOM’s Young Professionals Group - which organises a range of activities including webinars and social events - and the local office Green Team who drive forward environmental initiatives and arrange activities throughout the year to support those initiatives.

All AECOM employees are entitled to spend 2 working days per year to undertake Social Value Days, which may be STEM-based events at local schools or may be other activities aimed at supporting charities and / or the local community.

Each AECOM office organises a range of sports and social activities and events which all AECOM employees are welcome to participate in.

**Deadline**: To enable students to be enrolled onto September courses we ideally need them to have joined us by early July.

Minimum Requirements

No work experience is necessary. This position is ideally suited to school leavers at who can demonstrate the following:

- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade ‘C/4’ or above, including Mathematics & English

**Additionally, applicants must possess one of the following**:

- 3 ‘A’ levels at grade C (or equivalent) and above with two being in Maths and a Science
- Access level 3 qualification worth 48 UCAS points (must include maths) possibly in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering or Design or a ‘level 3’ Technician Apprenticeship
- BTEC National Diploma (MPP)
