**Overview**:
We currently have an exciting opportunity within our Missing and Exploitation Hub for an Exploitation Youth Worker to deliver youth work interventions with children and young people at risk of and experiencing exploitation whilst supporting other professionals who are working directly with these individuals.

This could include working in universal settings, including schools and youth centres as well as outreach work in the community. The focus is to work in a contextual way to safeguard children who are at risk of extra familial harm.

**About the role**:
**The successful post holder will**:

- Engage vulnerable children and young people, using a trauma informed and relationship based approach.
- Work alongside Social Workers, Youth Offending Service Officers and other partners as part of a multi-agency team around the child.
- Manage a caseload of children to safeguard them from exploitation and extra familial harm.
- Nurture and promote places of safety with a view to increasing safety in the community.
- Ensure recording is up to date and accurate.
- Promote the delivery of Contextual Safeguarding approaches to exploitation and extra familial harm.
- Provide advice, training and consultation to other professionals within Children’s Social Care on working with young people at risk from extra familial harm.
- Attend multi agency meetings and undertake various additional tasks as part of the duty role.

**About you**:

- Significant experience of working with young people and families
- Good knowledge of processes, procedures and issues relating to children and young people who experience harm outside of the home.
- Possess proven knowledge, skills and experience of working with those who are vulnerable to exploitation/serious violence/extra familial harm.
- Proven ability to carry out assessments (including risk assessments) and develop suitable plans to safeguard.
- Proven ability to advise and guide young people to encourage development and to access services which encourage positive engagement in community settings.
- Proven ability to influence and negotiate with a range of key stakeholders; including, but not limited to, children/young people, parents/carers, professionals.
- Working knowledge of legislation relevant to protecting children at risk of and experiencing Child Exploitation.
- Sound literacy and numeracy skills with accurate record keeping and report writing.
- Effective planning and workload management skills.
