**About us**:
UCL Departments of Chemical Engineering and Biochemical Engineering are two of the top research and teaching departments in the UK and has world-class standing. The department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and has an extensive research portfolio across a wealth of areas, and from molecular scale to complex systems.

**About the role**:
The role covers the following:
1. Maintenance, repairs, build and commissioning of electronic and electrical equipment.
2. Work alongside and support the Instrumentation technician.
3. Provide expert technical advice on various equipment and their functions to academic, technical staff, research staff, postdoctoral researchers, postgraduate and undergraduate students together with the production of detailed instructions if required.
4. Provide guidance and direct instruction about Health & Safety regulations and good working practice in the Electronics Workshop to all users including technical staff, academic staff, postdoctoral researchers, visitors and students, ensuring that these are adhered to.
5. Support with the installation of new equipment: their commissioning; maintenance and repair in both the Chemical department and the Biochemical department.
6. To build and service electronic equipment not commercially available in order to assist the research in the Chemical and Biochemical departments.
7. To repair, maintain, calibrate and modify existing electronic, electrical, analytical and computing equipment.
8. To electronically interface computing equipment to instrumentation and produce test routines and documentation as required.
9. To maintain a stock of service components for the running of the Electronics Workshop.
10.Electrical safety testing (PAT testing).
11. To maintain own continuing professional development.

**About you**:
We are looking for an electronics technician to provide electronic and electrical support for the build, installation, maintenance and repair to academic staff, technical staff, postdoctoral researchers, students and others in undergraduate, post graduate and research laboratories in both the Chemical Engineering and Biochemical Engineering departments in order to help the departments achieve their strategic objectives.
