**Working Hours**:37 hours per week Monday to Friday

**Base Location**:This role is a flexible hybrid working arrangement with an expectation that some time will be spent working from the site where the team operates at our offices in Bradford. There is also an expectation to visit sites across the Yorkshire region, therefore a full valid driving licence (no more than six points) is an essential requirement of this role.

**Purpose of the role**:
We currently have an opportunity for a Surveyor (Acquisitions) within our Estates Planning Team. The successful applicant will support the delivery of Yorkshire Water’s business strategy that will involve; acquisition of land rights required for capital projects or operational needs, advising on compensation claims arising from capital projects or burst, delivering good customer service and minimising cost to the business.

**Key accountabilities specific to the role**:
Some of the key responsibilities you will have will include but are not limited to:

- Responsible for the provision of professional and technical advice to support the delivery of the capital programme as requested alongside delivery of key targets within the business as defined by Yorkshire Water (YW).
- Liaise with YW project managers, YW construction partners and landowners/agents to acquire land rights required to deliver capital projects or operational needs.
- Liaise with landowners/agents, construction partners to ensure Asset Delivery projects are progressed in line with programme and on budget, and the Code of Practice to minimise compensation claims.
- Provide professional advice on compensation claims arising from capital projects or bursts to minimise costs to Yorkshire Water to ensure satisfactory resolution in a timely manner.
- As directed by the Manager of Estates Planning or a Lead Surveyor, provide estate management support across Yorkshire Water’s diverse estate as and when required.
- Work with the Land & Property team to seek and progress commercial and efficiency opportunities arising from the estate, thinking creatively and innovatively.
- Drive excellent standards, behaviours and performance in Health & Safety, Risk Management and conduct at work ensuring compliance with YW safety policy.
- Support the team’s approach to delivering excellent customer experience including enquiry handling as required.
- Demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement skills and provide technical land entry support to the Project Managers and Senior Project Managers on the asset (capital) programme delivery.
- Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders and be a brand ambassador for Yorkshire Water.
- Demonstrate excellent team working approach, make an active contribution to team sessions and support a continuous improvement ethos within the department.
- Ability to work at pace and react to business pressures where directed.
- Adhere to Health and Safety requirements.

**Knowledge and Skills Required**
- It is essential that you hold a Professional or AssocRICS membership of RICS, CAAV or extensive relevant experience.
- You should have an extensive knowledge and experience of legal and regulatory requirements relating to land and property ownership, understanding of property legislation and processes, land management, and disposal.
- You must also be self-motivated, with proven ability to work under pressure, excellent customer service, prioritisation, and time management skills enabling you to deliver results against challenging targets flexibly.
- Clearly able to demonstrate Yorkshire Water’s behaviours.
- An extensive knowledge and experience of the legal and regulatory requirements relating to the ownership, management and disposal of land and property including the Code of Practice.
- Strong competence with IT is essential, ideally you should be familiar with SAP, Microsoft Office, Office 365, Outlook, Odyssey, etc. as we value technical skills and IT competence in our surveyors, especially in using company IT systems.
