**Job description**

The Colas Rail Graduate Schemes are two-year fast track training programmes, which will jump start your career and begin to provide you with the all the technical and managerial skills that you will need to realise your potential. As a commercial graduate with Colas Rail, you will be enrolled in a two-year commercial graduate programme which has a distinct focus on the operational and commercial side of our business. You can expect to be working closely with our operational teams and senior management on improving the UK rail systems. Throughout your programme we will support you via bespoke training and development, giving you the opportunity to continuously learn and develop your skills and knowledge. The programme will provide a springboard to progress to becoming a Quantity Surveyor and achieving RICS status.

It is very important to us that you only think of your 2-year graduate scheme as the very start of your journey with Colas Rail because this is going to be just the beginning of an exciting, challenging and very rewarding career.

**Essential**

We're looking for bright, enthusiastic and determined people who can work both independently and in a team. For all our Graduate Programmes we are looking for at least a 2:2 from a reputable University, and the ability to stand out, by internships, university successes or extracurricular activities. We are also looking for graduates who share our ethics and behaviours, but are not afraid to look at ways in which we can continuously improve.

**Developing leaders of the future**

Developing people is key to our operational success, with 25% of our leaders progressing through our Graduate Schemes. The Trainee & Apprentice programmes we run are equally as important to closing the skills gap facing the industry.
We build our own talent and develop them on fast track Leadership, Technical and Commercial schemes and this in turn results in loyal and passionate employees who deliver brilliantly for our contracts. We can demonstrate this approach on our alliance contracts such as S&C, Wessex Capacity Alliance and the Midland Metro Alliance where it produces fantastic results.

**Qualification and experience requirements**:
For management graduates, we are looking for a minimum of:

- 2:2 degree
- A strong desire to pursue development in the railway industry.
- Driving licence
- Eligibility to work in the UK
