3 months contract with Camden Council_

**Job Summary**:

- To drive LB Camden vehicles to and from sites within and external to the LB of Camden as required, including 16-32 & 52 Seater Buses.
- To support clients with complex needs and disabilities to get to their schools and day centres.
- To conduct vehicle maintenance checks, maintain vehicle cleanliness and check all relevant equipment alongside maintaining and updating data logs as required.
- Plan and map out journey routes as scheduled each day.
- The normal place of work on a day-to-day basis is in predominantly outdoor environment in vehicles driving around LB Camden.

**Key Duties/Accountabilities**:

- Drive fleet vehicles (for which relevant licence held) inclusive of coaches, buses, minibuses, goods vehicles and cars as directed for the transport of passengers, and / or commodities in a safe and efficient manner in all weather and traffic conditions.
- Comply with regulations and codes of practice, governing the driving and use of vehicles and its equipment in connection with any function undertaken including the carriage of passengers and loads. To ensure that the necessary personal protective equipment and uniform are worn as required.
- To check the vehicle and its equipment daily and weekly for roadworthiness / effectiveness, reporting any defects, carrying out routine driver service operations, ensuring the interior and exterior of the vehicle is clean and tidy at all times to required standards, including hygiene control.
- Ensure safety and wellbeing of transport users throughout the journey and handover from and to: residence / parent / guardian / carer; primary helper at school; or to care assistants at centres. Assist passengers’ to board and alight vehicles utilising appropriate means, including physically assisting passengers with severe disabilities. To load/unload commodities/goods/vehicle equipment and ensure safe transit.
- To follow daily and weekly work schedules as instructed and complete all drivers related records are required, including operating tachographs and other in-vehicle equipment.
- Liaise and ensure appropriate communication/feedback with parents, guardians, carers, escorts, teachers, centre organisers and other council staff in a multi-ethnic environment.

**Essential Qualifications Required**:

- Drivers are required to have a full driving licence (max 3 points) - category D (PCV) and will be expected to take Camdens Driving Assessment Checks (and pass)
- Drivers are required to have a Tacho Card - this must be made evidence.

Participate in working flexible hours with general core working hours being between 07.00-19.00. Undertake evening and weekend work as the service needs dictate and in accordance with local procedures.PCV Driver
