**Job summary**:
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the UK and other major world economies have imposed an unprecedented range of sanctions to reduce the Russian regime’s ability to continue the invasion, impose costs on the Russian economy and induce Russia to change course. DBT has led moves to ban trade in a range of services.

Team - The sanctions team sits within the Trade and Investment Negotiations - Services Directorate, and is responsible for leading a cross-HMG effort to develop and implement services trade sanctions targeting trade with Russia. We have already delivered a range of sanctions designed to deprive the Russian economy of world-class UK services, in conjunction with G7 allies.

This role is a fantastic stretching opportunity to work on one of the highest profile issues in government, and a priority for ministers.

**Job description**:

- Support policy work on services sanctions, work collaboratively across Government to maintain a robust and effective services sanctions regime.
- Support engagement with international partners to maximise the impact of sanctions on the Russian economy.
- Engage with business stakeholders to ensure our services sanctions are effectively communicated and well understood by the businesses they affect.

**Essential Criteria**

It is essential that you are a self-starter that knows how to operate in environments where there is high ambiguity and uncertainty and therefore no established way of achieving outcomes. Strong drafting skills, the ability to develop relationships with colleagues from other departments, the ability to weigh up risks and opportunities to make sound recommendations, and the ability to explain complex issues both orally and in writing to a range of stakeholders are also important.
