Teaching Administrator

We are looking for a highly-organised and proactive Teaching Administrator to provide key administrative support to the Department's undergraduate teaching team. This typically includes enquiries, advice and guidance, student records, maintenance of relevant databases and as the permanent non-academic Secretary to the Teaching and Outreach Committee. This role also includes supporting the preparation of undergraduate examinations and liaising with external examiners. It also co-ordinates the payment of laboratory demonstrators and assists in the recruitment of undergraduate supervisors.

The role works closely with the Department Academic staff, administrators, teaching staff and college Directors of Studies, managing the transfer of information and data both inside and outside of the Department, and organising timetables. The office also holds student records and co-ordinates some aspects of continuous assessment.

The role requires excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal pro-actively with a wide range of people at all levels, significant experience of working in a busy office, working effectively under pressure and of prioritising work to meet challenging deadlines. The role holder will need be able to work independently, acting effectively on their own initiative and have attention to detail.

The role is 30 hours per week, days and hours to be worked will be negotiable on appointment, and there is a possibility of some flexible school term-time working. However, it is essential that the roll holder can be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the undergraduate educational endeavour and work at times to meet the deadlines of the office.
