**The role**:
St John and St Anne is a historical and successful almshouse charity and a registered social housing provider. The charity, the oldest in Rutland is proud of its reputation as being the leading provider of accommodation for older people. We provide independent housing and have 103 almshouses on 3 different sites in Oakham and Uppingham, with a historic 14th century chapel.
The **Resident’s Welfare & Benefits Advisor** plays a significant and rewarding role in the organisation.
**Key Attributes and Experience**:
- Experience working with in a care, housing, or advice setting.
- Relevant experience or qualifications
- Highly motivated, energetic, tenacious, driven, solution focused and with a “can do” attitude.
- Organised, adaptable pro-active and able to work on own initiative.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbal and written (including with older residents, staff, and visitors)
- Understand the need for confidentiality in all aspects of the role and with vulnerable residents and maintaining professional boundaries.
- Good computer skills, competent with Microsoft Office packages and SharePoint
- Organisational and planning skills with attention to detail
**About Almshouses**
Almshouses have a long history in Britain dating back to medieval times. In many market towns across the country, local wealthy benefactors; built houses for specific groups of needy people often those retiring from local industries. The benefactors also provided “alms” which were money or services given to the inhabitants of the almshouses. Today there are approximately 2,500 almshouses in the UK providing accommodation for local people.

**Application/Interview Process**:
Applications from individuals who are related to residents, staff, or members of the Board of Governors are welcome. However, it is a requirement that any such relationship is declared on your covering letter.
- **Salary**: £30, 000 - £35,000 dependent on experience and qualifications
- **Hours**: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm pm, or P/T (30 hrs) Considered
- **Holiday**: 27 Days Holidays + Bank Holidays
- **Pension**: 8% Employer Contribution
- **Other Benefits**: A supportive, friendly work environment and free parking
