**Post: Night Caretaker**

**Location: Edinburgh and The Lothians**

**Hours: Full and Part Time available**

**Salary: £9.95 per hour**

**Contract: Permanent**

**Expectations of the Night Caretaker role**

Provide an enhanced caretaking/security in an accommodation service for people who are vulnerable or homeless.

**Responsibilities of the Night Caretaker**

**Maintaining safety and security**

Ensure the safe access and egress of residents and visitors to and from the building;
Operate CCTV equipment in line with the organisation policies and procedures including with YOU Data Protection policies;
Ensure the fire safety of individuals in relation to access to and from the accommodation;
Work in accordance with with YOU Lone Working Policy and procedures;
Resolve disputes, eg local neighbour complaints in line with with YOU Social Behaviour policy;
Provide regular stair checks to ensure the building is safe and secure in line with interagency agreements;
Provide effective communication with external agencies e.g. Emergency Services;
Operate in line with organisational Health and Safety policy and procedures;

Co-ordinate the evacuation of the building in the event of fire etc.;
Maintain clear, detailed and accurate recording systems in relation to all of the above.

**Communications/Liaison**

Participate in a daily hand-over of property information from and to with YOU day time support staff;
Inform with YOU management of any serious incidents or breaches of tenancy;
Maintain clear, detailed and accurate recording systems to enable effective communication within with YOU and other agencies;
Provide written reports, as required, to enable to evaluate the service provided by with YOU;
Undertake administration in relation to property as required by line management

Report any repairs and maintenance, including emergencies, required in line with with YOU guidelines.

**Learning and Development**

Demonstrate personal responsibility for own learning;
Undertake ad hoc projects as assigned by the Service Manager in the context of Night Caretaker duties.
