Legal Secretary

**Legal Secretary - Permanent role based in Tring, Herfordshire - £21,000 to £26,000 per annum DOE**

This role is primarily to assist the two partners in dealing with commercial conveyancing work for a single client, with whom they have a long-established relationship. My client is happy to offer training, but they would prefer someone with some legal secretarialexperience.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Prepare correspondence and documents through audiotyping and word processing.
- Administer filing daily and to prepare mail and enclosures for despatch.
- Make appointments, arrange meetings and to maintain an up-to-date diary for his/her principal.
- Answer incoming telephone calls, lift answerphone messages and forward to the relevant fee earner.
- Attend clients both in person and on the telephone and to provide such support in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the firm’s standards for client care.
- Ensure the confidentiality of all the firm’s and client’s documentation and information.
- Verify third party account details and carry out LawyerChecker searches as required.
- Prepare CHAPS/BACS forms.
- Check the firm’s banking system for incoming funds and input outward payments as required.
- Prepare chitties for cheques to be written and incoming payments.
- Carry out property searches; check for results and save search results to the relevant client file.
- Carry out all tasks in accordance with the procedures set out in the Office Manual.

**Skills and abilities**:

- Excellent audio-typing skills.
- Proficiency with Word and Outlook.
- Good typing speed (at least 70 wpm).
- Excellent typing accuracy.
- Good spelling and punctuation.
- Good general attention to detail.
- Familiarity with layout of relevant legal documents.
- A pleasant telephone manner
