**Counselling Co-ordinator**

**Reports to**:Counselling Services Manager**

**£35,000 - 37.5 hours per week**

This is a brand-new role co-ordinating and developing the delivery of a Generic Counselling Service for adults. Therapy will predominantly be delivered by trainee and qualified volunteers who will be managed, supervised and supported by this post holder.

**Schedule** - Monday to Friday 9-5

**Experience** - Counselling: 3 years (preferred)

**Ability to Commute**:

- Applicant must have access to a car for use during working hours

**Work Location** - In person on site at main office or outreach hubs in the Wigan Borough.

**Person Specification**

**Experience**
- Supervision of practising counsellors (minimum 2 years, although training could be offered))
- Working knowledge of counselling projects (including policies, procedures and practice)
- Working knowledge of policies, procedures and practices in counselling provision in respect of young people with social, emotional and behavioural concerns.
- To be able to demonstrate how you have maintained professional relationships with external services
- Ability to prioritise work
- Ability to support and offer CPD training to trainee counsellors
- Experience of report writing

**Qualifications/Training**
- Diploma in Counselling or Psychotherapy
- BACP Accreditation (or about to submit) _**desirable**_

**Practical Skills**
- To be able to demonstrate the ability to offer counselling in a variety of settings
- To demonstrate the ability to run counselling services effectively
- To demonstrate effective management skills
- To demonstrate the ability to identify training/development

**Personal Qualities/Attitudes**

**Professional Duties**

**Under the direction of, and with responsibility to, the Counselling Services Manager the Counselling Coordinator shall carry out the following delegated duties;**
- To participate in the selection and appointment of volunteers of the service and to develop a suitable induction programme for all new counsellors with the Counselling Services Manager
- Provide continue support and or training for the case management system to ensure all data is corrected, collated and reported
- To be responsible for retention and flow of trainees in the service
- To complete all administrative duties associated with clients and volunteer counsellors including writing trainees’ reports for college
- Pre-assess all clients prior to allocation to trainee volunteers
- Maintain a small case load
- Be a point of contact and support for volunteer counsellors
- Provide supervision for other clinical staff members as instructed by the Counselling Services Manager
- Provide supervision for the volunteer counsellors
- To facilitate and deliver volunteer meetings for general policy, organisation, evaluation and development of the counselling projects and report back to the Counselling Service Manager
- To keep the Operations Manager of Family Welfare informed of the standards within the service, including a professional awareness of the legal, ethical and professional issues addressed by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy
- Provide a quarterly written report on the service and regular monthly updates
- Manage wait times and other KPIs
- Foster a supportive working environment for trainees
- Support the Counselling Services Manager in her role and be flexible to provide support or deputise for other Family Welfare counselling services when directed to do so by the Counselling Services Manager
- To keep the organisation updated about all the counselling projects, writing policies and procedural guidelines with the Counselling Services Manager
- Provide any other duties as requested by the Counselling Service Manager to promote and or assist with the smooth running and delivery of the counselling services.
