Ndt Apprentice

Lavender International, the training provider, are recruiting on behalf of a well established race team based in Silverstone competing in multiple championships.

Due to rapid growth HiTECH are recruiting an Apprentice position within their R&D department. The role will involve being predominately based in the NDT Test Lab and being trained in all disciplines, plus, Thermographic and Acoustic Emissions Testing. Fitting trim panels for walls, cleaning out wash tanks. Cleaning 3D printers. Simulator maintenance.

**Responsibilities**

The apprentice will be using various NDT methods, such as ultrasonics, radiography and infrared thermography, to detect cracks and other imperfections in manufactured components, including those that have been in service for a period of time.

The results of inspections are taken at face value and, therefore, specialists rely on NDT accuracy when deciding whether to operate, repair or replace a component.

Real-life examples could include inspecting airframes and engines, Formula 1 gearboxes and nuclear reactors or other safety-critical components.

Other ad hoc task are not limited to but may include:

- Fitting trim panels for walls, cleaning out wash tanks
- Cleaning 3D printers
- Simulator maintenance
- Painting workshop equipment
- Polishing/oiling the flat plate
- Emptying the bins

**What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?**
- Internationally recognised certification in Level 2 Magnetic Testing or Penetrant Testing (EN4179)
- Non - Destructive Testing (NDT) Operator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
- Functional Skills in maths and English, if required
- Upon successful completion of this apprenticeship, further opportunities may be available to you within the company, but the experience and skills gained should prepare you for future progression within the industry
- NDT Level 3 certification in three methods in accordance with national and international standards
