**About the Role**

As a Senior Technologist, you will have line management responsibility for the technologists within your team and will guide and develop the team to deliver projects on critical path alongside mid-to-long term departmental objectives.

You and your team will work closely with NPD colleagues within both product and packaging throughout the development process to launch. This will include ensuring that adequate controls are in place to ensure products matches the brief and that quality standards are both set, measured, and maintained by the supply base identified.

You are responsible for ensuring that the necessary documentation, and due-diligence evidence, is received, assessed, and accurately filed throughout all stages of NPD, and meet the established KPI’s.

You should have a good working knowledge of supplier capabilities, developed through regular visits and interactions. This should enable you to understand their processes, and continually stretch the boundaries of the possible.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Manage and develop QA Food Product Technologists including identifying development and training needs.
- Implement and manage a risk-based approach to product approval to best utilise QA resource.
- Continuous review and improvement of QA processes and systems to meet dynamic business requirements.
- Effective supplier management and development to meet the requirements of the business.
- Delivery of all QA Food Team objectives and KPI’s
- Identify, onboard and review, third party laboratory and testing services where required to meet the requirements of the business.
- Support product and/or supplier issue resolution where required, alongside the compliance team
- Deputise for QA/QC Manager where required.
- Work within PAH critical path timelines to ensure that suppliers deliver NPD in the framework identified.
- Work with the NPD Manager and suppliers to assess products against required standards, ensuring both quality and safety standards are agreed and set at the earliest stage within the process.
- Develop a robust Specifications Library for all products in each category and ensure that the layout and usage of these is fit for purpose; and integrates into the critical path database for full traceability.
- Review Pack Copy of all new products in line with critical path timings, and utilizing the pack copy checklist.
- Work with the Supplier Sourcing Manager to ensure that supplier onboarding is done in a manner which assesses both competence and safety standards, but also aspirations towards corporate social responsibility principles.
- Collaborative team working across all key stakeholders, to actively develop own brand products and increase participation in line with business targets
- Review and implement an integrated QAS system for PAH, ensuring that product parameters are set, to enable ongoing measurement of compliance.
- Liaise with relevant product testing laboratories, to ensure that products are tested in line with legal compliance.
- Actively keep yourself abreast of regulatory updates within the pet food industry
- Work with the Compliance Technologist to ensure that product complaints can be adequately investigated under the 5 Why’s principles.
- Develop competence in audit procedures as such that you can independently audit supplier performance and write necessary output reports.
- Create a platform to show expected Technical Product Standards by product and category area.
- Embrace the horizon scanning platform to pre-empt and plan for any future changes required, in line with legislative or contingency planning

**About You**
- 5+ years’ experience of working within an audit, compliance or food safety role, preferably within an FMCG environment
- 2+ years management or supervisory experience.
- Experience of auditing external supplier base.
- Experience of supplier development.
- Knowledge of end to end manufacturing from raw materials, through product, packaging, storage and distribution.
- Minimum of HACCP 3 qualification.
- Experience of using spreadsheet trackers and project management tools
- Experience of using Microsoft Office
