By joining our national urban drainage team, you will be joining a multi-disciplinary team to work with a wide variety of clients. This includes water companies on all aspects of their normal programmes as well as other clients on major national infrastructure projects. You will be part of a team that develops cutting edge digital services for its clients.

**Job Summary**:
The Asset Planning team carries out a range of projects in the clean and wastewater sector. These include drainage network improvement schemes to reduce the impact of storm overflows on our rivers and seas and reduce flood risk in our communities. This typically involves undertaking feasibility studies/projects using computer modelling, analysis to support operational and environmental recommendations or other interventions.

Experience/awareness of computational modelling and civil engineering would be advantageous but not essential as full on the job training will be provided. The role will require site visits and liaison with clients, contractors, stakeholders and other professional bodies. The output will typically be in short reports to outline the approach taken and findings from the investigation and recommendations for future investments.

**Requirements**:
**_ Qualifications -_**
- Mathematics and English at GCSE/SN5 or equivalent (or higher) Grade C / 5 and above.

**_ Essential -_**
- Team player.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication skills - oral and written.
- Proactive self-starter.
- Desire to learn and develop technically and work towards a professional qualification.

**_ Desirable Criteria -_**
- Any prior experience of similar work in areas such as water and drainage.
- Experience of InfoWorks ICM software (or other similar packages).
- Geographic information systems (MapInfo/ArcGIS/QGIS).
- Computer coding and programming skills (e.g., Visual Basic, Python, etc).
- Knowledge and experience of computer modelling principles.
- UK driving licence.

**Responsibilities**:

- Development of computer models to investigate flooding and environmental problems and generation of outline solutions.
- Analysis of data.
- Support development of reports and other project deliverables.
- Undertake site surveys and walkovers.
- Prepare (and adhere to) health and safety risk assessments.

They will be self-motivated and demonstrate an ability to work with others in a variety of project roles, working in a flexible office/home environment within a global team. They will show an awareness of the pressures society faces to adapt to a changing planet and be driven to contribute towards meaningful change.
