**Job Title**: Exotic Animal Keeper
**Hours**: 22+ hours per week Mon-Thurs & Saturday. 9-1.30pm. Hours and Days may vary.
**Location**: Mayland, CM3
**Start date**:Beginning of January
**Role**:You will be working under the direction of the company manager but must be able to work well alone as you will be responsible for all aspects of animal care:
- Preparing a wide variety of foods for various exotic animal species (including mammals, birds, amphibians, invertebrates and reptiles).
- Inspecting and cleaning out enclosures.
- Creating and provide species appropriate enrichment to animals.
- Undertake & record animal observations.
- Cleaning facilities, equipment and associated animal areas accordingly as directed by management.
- Assist in data collection: Maintaining daily reports, logs, training and enrichment records, research or veterinary records, as appropriate.
- Assist with routine veterinary, emergency, training or husbandry, and management procedures.
- Assist with medical care procedures and administer medication as directed.
- Provide general maintenance of grounds in and around enclosures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**You will be expected to**:
- Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
- Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
- Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees.
**Minimum Qualifications**:
- Significant practical experience in the husbandry and wider management of a range of species
- Knowledge of contemporary exotic animal husbandry
- Full driving licence valid for the U.K.
- Strong interpersonal, team-building and communication skills.
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, bank holidays and special events.
**PHYSICAL ABILITIES**:
- Lifting and carrying heavy objects.
- Pushing, climbing, walking, kneeling and crouching to work with and feed animals
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipment and tools.
- Must be able to work in an outdoor weather environment in all seasons and weather, including heat/humidity, cold temperatures, and/or wet conditions
**HAZARDS**:
- Exposure to potentially dangerous and sick animals.
- Exposure to animal waste.

- Indoor and outdoor environment.
