Using digital storytelling techniques including digital, the role holderwill generate engaging and impactful press coverage and social media narratives for the University. You will also be involved in wider press and communications activity, using a wide range of techniques and innovative ideas.
As Digital Press Officer, you will play an integral role promoting the University's activities and compelling stories in accessible channels, by producing both digital and written content. You will work as a key member of the press office, facilitating mediaenquiries and crafting statements, as well as developing relationships with academic colleagues to source stories and gain expert contacts for press releases. Using social media and the University's digital and print publications, you will support colleagueswith press and seize opportunities to build relationships with local and regional media and arranging visits.
The ideal Digital Press Officer will:

- Be educated to a graduate level in a relevant degree such as media, communications, or public relations, as well as a professional qualification and experience in public relations
- Be proficient in maximising social media and SEO usage with a strong awareness of media types and their audience
- Be able to use all forms of media to tell compelling and interesting stories, especially using Adobe software to create videos for social media with an understanding of tone of voice
- Have excellent communication skills, a positive and flexible approach to work, and an appreciation for other cultures as part of a global organisation with an international agenda
