Your new role:
Southend-on-Sea City Council has a great opportunity for a **Finance Officer** to join the Social Care Income Team on a full time and fixed term contract basis (**11 months**). This role will be based within a dynamic and forward-thinking team working across the office and at home. This contract is offered on a hybrid basis, which is a combination of working from home and office - determined by business needs, which usually necessitates three days in the office and two days working at home.

The Income team raise invoices in respect of income due to the Adult Social Care department and carry out debt recovery for outstanding monies according to the Departmental and Corporate debt policies. You will maintain computerised records of communications and payment commitments in accordance with procedures, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of accounting systems. You will liaise effectively with service users and families, providers, staff of Southend Council and other agencies in order to efficiently collect monies owed as well as investigating and responding to queries in a helpful and courteous manner.

What you'll need to succeed:
To be successful in this role, previous experience of working within a credit control or debt collection team is essential. It is also essential that you have strong communication and interpersonal skills as you will be liaising with various stakeholders. You need to have good levels of numeracy and possess the ability to analyse financial data. You need to be able to work on your own as well as be part of a team and you must be able to manage your own workload. Ability to use various MS packages especially Teams and Excel is vital to be successful in this role.
