Our client is a well-established and expanding manufacturing company, servicing a wide range of industries, including Defence, Rail, and Oil & Gas Sectors (ATEX). Our largest markets are the UK, Europe, and India.

They specialise in the design, engineering, manufacture, project management and installation of electrical and electronic equipment for marine vessels and submarines including specialist lights, lighting and switchgear.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

We have an exciting opportunity for a **Mechanical Assembler** to join our client’s head office in Birmingham in the production, assembly and test facility. Reporting to the **Production Manager** and as part of the production team, you will be responsible for mechanical assembly for all products in the company catalogue ranging from general light fittings to control & distribution panels supplied to various customers in the defence industry.

Your duties will include but not be limited to the following.

**KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY / EXPERIENCE**
- General assembly
- Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings
- Mechanical assembly
- Basic Electrical assembly
- Use of hand tools

**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Ability to understand and manufacture to GA drawings
- Mechanical assembly experience
- Ability to act as a stand-alone operator on any given project
- Ability to use hand tools.

**DESIRED REQUIREMENTS**:

- Electrical assembly experience

37 Hours per week

Fixed Days

Monday - Thursday 07:30-16:00

Friday - 07:30 -12:30

**CAVEAT**

**Job Type**: Permanent

**Salary**: £12.50-£14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
