Head of Purchasing

**Do you come from a manufacturing procurement background?**

If so, we have a unique opportunity in Hythe for a Head of Purchasing to work for one of our clients who provides a range of engineering resources, with over 50 years’ experience in the industry.

Our client is offering a competitive salary depending on experience.

**As the Head of Purchasing your responsibilities would include**:

- Make sure that all purchases are made at the most competitive price for the quality required and to regularly benchmark key suppliers
- Ensure a robust dual supply chains for critical items, including subcontractors
- Manage a small department
- Liaise with Operations, Quality and Technical departments, ensuring suppliers are aware of our packaging and quality requirements
- Liaise with Sales/Estimating department, to ensure competitive prices are provided for quotations and lead times are minimised
- Liaise with Accounts department, to ensure all documentation is processed efficiently
- Monitor supplier performance
- Negotiate credit terms with suppliers
- Other duties as deemed reasonable

**Head of Purchasing Person Specification**:

- Held a similar position in a manufacturing business for at least 3 years.
- Have import/export experience.
- Good negotiating skills and able to demonstrate successful cost reduction achievements
- Computer literate
- Member of The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS), preferred
