For over sixty years Rolls-Royce has been quietly designing, manufacturing and supporting in-service, the reactor plant that power the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet, while at the same time gaining a reputation as a provider of solutions for the civil nuclear industry. Throughout this time, the company has been at the forefront of Britain’s nuclear power research and has played a key role in developing the country’s nuclear engineering capability. Because of the classified nature of most of this work, much has gone unreported, and though many residents of Derby will know of this association, very few in the country are fully aware of the Rolls-Royce nuclear power connection.

You will enable consistent deployment of the company’s risk management process, provide senior management with a comprehensive and meaningful view of risk and beneficially influence the management of risk through effective facilitation and mentoring.

What you’ll be doing:
You will ensure that the requirements of the business are met, and risk management plans align with Group, Sector, Business and Customer requirements, processes, tool sets and industry best practice
- Manage the cycle of risk reviews, eliciting, interpreting and combining risk information from across the relevant stakeholders to identify threats and opportunities to inform business decision making
- Manage the Risk Registers, in the company system of record or other suitable tool, ensuring appropriate coverage for all stakeholders and dependencies
- Support the business in understanding the current risk position including analysis of incidents and progressing the effectiveness of risk treatments and controls
- Improve the levels risk management maturity within the business through active engagement with all stakeholders
- Act as a mentor for other risk practitioners within the business
- Continuously improve the levels of risk management within the business by drawing upon best practice and previous experience
- Supporting the existing risk team achieve the common Business risk objectives and help shape the risk journey within the business

- Experience of using risk management software would be an advantage
- Experience in risk (or other forms of) facilitation and identification techniques
- Experience in delivery of process and tool training is advantageous
- Awareness or experience of Enterprise or Portfolio risk management
- A relevant risk qualification is advantageous
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience of liaising with senior management is advantageous
