The Research and Innovation Centre at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has an exciting Job Share Opportunity as aBand 7 Advanced Research practitioner.

The Primary aim of this post is to bring about greater access for research in order to provide a unique and enviable framework to enhance delivery of world class research.

They will embark on a programme of dual training for both Oncology and Hematology systemic anticancer treatments. They must be motivated and willing to undergo training in the Hematology and chemotherapy fields.

As an Advanced Research practitioner, you will be responsible for supporting the senior management team in ensuring that our service users’ needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care. As a center of excellence, you will offer a person-centered approach to their independence and well-being.

You will have a dual base location at CCC Liverpool and CCC wirral

As we deliver treatments in sector hubs and clinics across Liverpool and Aintree, there will be an element of cross cover required during training and once training has been completed. This will include travelling to all of our peripheral sites:

- CCC Liverpool
- CCC Wirral

The post holder will be a Registered General Nurse and most maintain an NMC registration.

In doing so will demonstrate a high level of practice and knowledge, working as a key member of the multi
- disciplinary team providing professional and clinical support in the care of patients on clinical trials.

The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will provide expert care and treatment to patients within agreed trials protocol and clinical guidelines. Functions in a variety of role dimensions: health care provider, educator, supervisor to junior staff, researcher, auditor, clinical advocate and implementer of research and clinical governance.

The post holder is employed and managed by Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, but will be required to travel across a number of NHS trusts within Merseyside and Cheshire. Regular travel will be expected between CCC Wirral, Liverpool and Aintree sites.

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s leading providers of non-surgical cancer treatment, caring for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire.

Our flagship specialist cancer hospital was opened in central Liverpool in June 2020, supported by our hospital on the Clatterbridge Health Park in Wirral providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care and our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site.

Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside’s district hospitals, we are able to deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and Immunotherapies. We also deliver a pioneering Treatment at Home and Work service; are the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers and host the region’s Teenage and Young Adult Unit, (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust).

Working with leading experts from The University of Liverpool and the Cancer Research UK Liverpool Cancer Trials Unit we strive to stay at the forefront of novel treatments and techniques to deliver more effective and personalised treatments than ever before.
- Responsibility to ensure all nursing care is carried out as determined by the trials protocol and individual patient’s treatment plan.
- Responsibility to ensure SACT treatment assessments are regularly updated reflecting evidence-based practice.
- Responsibly for ensuring eligibility is determined and signed of by the principal investigator.
- Responsibility to ensure all assessment have been complete and reported prior to randomisation of a patient per protocol.
- Responsibility to provide accurate information to PI, sponsors and patients and relatives regarding treatment and side effects.
- Responsibility to ensures accurate data is transcribe on to patient case report forms in line with protocol time frames
- Responsibility to ensure that all patient information is collected and documented accurately and in real time, during a span of duty and protocol timelines.
- Responsibility to work as an autonomous practitioner as well as part of a team.
- Responsibility to provide accurate reports both verbally and electronically.
- Responsibility to ensure that all nursing policies, procedures and protocols within the clinical environment are adhered to.
- Responsibility for the safe handling and administration of all SACT, supportive treatments and blood products according to policy and protocol.
