**Out of Hours Worker**

**Hours**:Average 23.5 per week on a 4 week rolling rota (including bank holidays and weekends)

**Working Pattern**:Overnight shifts are sleep in shifts from 11pm
- **Week 1 **_- Monday 17.45-6am, Friday 17:45-6am_
- **Week 2**_ - Tuesday 17.45-6am, Saturday 17.45-6am_
- **Week 3 **_- Wednesday 17.45-6am, Sunday 17.45-6am _
- **Week 4**_ - Thursday 17.45-6am, Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday 10am-6pm_

**Salary**: £20,000 per annum _(pro rated for part time employees)_

Staff are offered the opportunity to undertake additional shifts to cover absences

Mandatory attendance at supervision, team meetings and training outside of normal hours are paid

All staff must work flexibly on occasions to meet the needs of the clients and organisation

**Purpose of the post**:To support the delivery of specialist support to women and children living within Gwent who are affected by Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and/or Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) in primarily our accommodation services

**Responsibilities**
- Assist with provision of support to women and children residing in refuge / accommodation projects
- Work with women and children in an empowering and engaging manner, as set out in our Model of Support policy
- To work evenings, overnight, weekends and bank holidays within our staffed refuges in Torfaen
- Carry out some administrative duties on behalf of the team in relation to women’s case work. (e.g. Entering information, embedding files on MODUS, making phone calls)
- To undertake some support work as directed by the keyworker or manager in relation to an individual’s support plan, needs or risk assessment and safety plan
- To assist in the planning and delivery of activities for women residing in the refuge
- To update refuges online with respect to vacancies as they occur
- Support women and children to have a voice within the organisation and the sector, by for example, encouraging them to complete surveys, give feedback and attend associated events
- To ensure that communal areas on the refuges are closed down and safe after 11 p.m. (Turning off main lights, fans, checking of external doors etc)

**Health, Safety & Repairs**

To carry out and record health and safety checks and property checks to the specifications required, (internally and externally these will be divided between day and night staff):

- Daily (visual checks)
- Fire Drills
- Act as a Fire Warden for the building
- Assist in completion of and auctioning of site risk assessments
- Report emergency repair/maintenance issues and liaise with the housing association
- Ensure that any remedial work required in respect of faults/deficiencies are reported and that the work takes place
- Ensure all checks and actions taken are thoroughly recorded
- Provide access to contractors attending buildings
- Be familiar with alarms, CCTV and security systems
- Ensure the safety and security of all residents, addressing any breaches of security according to policy and procedures
- To clean private bedrooms in between occupancies (flat/room change around)
- To wash and change bed linen, towels, cot bedding and similar between occupancies
- To maintain the cleanliness of the external area of the premises
- To undertake ‘motivational cleaning’ exercises with women where necessary
- To undertake cleaning of communal areas when necessary to maintain standards and minimise health and safety risks
- Monitor stocks of consumables.
- Report the need for purchase of refuge stocks including bedding/towels, cleaning materials, food and welcome packs and other household items
- To advise the manager of needs relating to furnishings or equipment

To assist in providing the organisation’s out of hours response:

- Respond to phone calls from the Live Fear Free help line
- Undertake assessments for refuge request with support of on call system
- Assist colleagues in the event of incident/emergency in another project
- Liaise with 2nd and 3rd Tier buddy as required
- To demonstrate and promote the organisation’s ethos, vision and values
- To actively work in partnership with other agencies and organisations to achieve better outcomes for women and children affected by Domestic Abuse and sexual abuse
- Participate in team meetings, supervision and appropriate training and away days
- To work within the organisation’s Policies and Procedures
- Any other reasonable duties as required
