**What’s in it for you**:
If you feel excited about being at the forefront of nature recovery in Dorset, then this may be just the role for you. It’s a really exciting time for local nature recovery, with new legislation now in place as part of the Environment Act 2021 as well as supporting the delivery of the climate and ecological agenda across Dorset. This amazing opportunity is to support the development and production of the Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) for the Dorset Council and BCP Council landscape area (Dorset area). The strategy is important as it will help determine the direction of nature’s recovery into the future.

**What you can expect to be doing**:

- The role will be supporting the lead officers and Local Nature Recovery Strategy Working Group in the development and production of the Local Nature Recovery Strategy. Taking a key role in the engagement and communication the key areas of work include:

- Helping to develop the Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) that will provide a framework for nature recovery and wider environmental benefits across Dorset
- Setting up effective communication to create greater awareness and ownership of nature recovery and ensure all relevant stakeholders input into the work and are kept informed of Local Nature Recovery Strategy delivery
- Supporting and delivering relevant communications - e.g., website, newsletters, events, seminars
- Supporting effective partnership working with others who are leading on projects relating to nature recovery
- Developing and delivering information/training sessions to engage colleagues, partner organisations, public, stakeholders and elected members across the Dorset council and BCP Council areas.
- Creating opportunities for development of projects which will promote nature recovery in Dorset

**About you**:
This is a broad and varied role with lots of challenges and opportunities. You will be a committed, confident, self-starter to help coordinate and support delivery of the Local Nature Recovery Strategy.

You will be driven and want to make a lasting difference, have experience in writing reports and/or strategies as well as delivering successful project that you are proud of.

**About you**:
The role will sit within the Natural Environment Team which is currently made up of the Natural Environment Team Manager, a team of ecologists, mitigation Officers (Heathland and Nitrate), a Landscape Officer and a Support Officer. The team is friendly and professional and comes together on every Tuesday for a team day in County Hall, Dorchester.

You will need to have a flexible approach to work, traveling to meetings and site visits, working in the office and at home together with working at evening and/or weekend meetings if required. It is necessary to have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

This post is full time (37 hours per week) fixed-term contract for initially one year due to funding but is likely to be extended.
