Procurement play a key role in enabling Primark to deliver “Amazing Fashion at Amazing Prices” whilst supporting a significant store expansion programme and business transformation.
Our team partners with the business to develop strategies to create competitive advantage for the business, with a focus on value creation, innovation, sustainability and risk management.
The Procurement Advisor is a role partnering with our Packaging Centre of Excellence, Supply Chain, Buying and Merchandising Teams, Quality and retail, working across Packaging categories with a focus on Plastic and Card Hangers spend of >£50m per year. Sourcing of our garments in Primarily in Asia and Turkey and the Hanger Manufacturing Sites would be positioned to serve the garment vendors effectively in time and in full.
This role is accountable for the Hanger Category Strategy and sub strategies development, compliance and execution to maximise commercial and operational benefit and mitigating exposure and risk.
- **Buying and Merchandising Teams**
- Partner with the B&M team to ensure that we have the right suppliers in place that deliver the right quality at the right price.
- Develop Category and subcategory plans for a successful range launch in full by end of 2024.
- Represent the category on relevant strategy development and planning forums
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring business alignment on critical objectives
- Identify risks to supply and mitigation plans working with the B&M Teams and each supplier and supplier site in each manufacturing region.
- Ensure retail and finance are aligned on project roll out.
- Provide market intelligence during Garment Sourcing Cycles on packaging price movements which may be affecting their margins
- Agree and include KPIs/SLAs in contracts, lead/attend review meetings as appropriate on regular intervals ensuring hanger suppliers contract compliance
- Anticipate the future growth plans of the business, ensure that there is capacity available to enable growth without risk
- **Compliance and Governance**
- Negotiate contracts with new and existing suppliers, ensuring contract terms achieve benefit to the organisation, govern the long-term relationships
- Detailed contract compliance review with supplier including commercial reviews and price adjustments are justified and negotiated
- Create Reconciliation methodologies and change management operational strategy to ensure continuous improvement on the supplier contract compliance
- Carry out Benchmark price structures every 2-4 years across all regions to ensure value for money through the life of a contract.
- Create and distribute guidance on preferred supply and nominated supply on how to purchase items in the categories in scope to internal stakeholders to ensure category strategy is followed
- Advise internal customers of commercial risks supply assurance issues and work to mitigate risk to protect Primark.
- ** Contractual and Legal**
- Ensure Primark is adequately legally protected and insured in commercial agreements
- Ensure compliance to contract approval policy via legal review and appropriate grant of authority for contracts and SOW’s
- Put in place contracts, framework and legal agreements for all nominated suppliers as required
- Ensure that all contractual arrangements adequately indemnify Primark and their insurers
- Ensure legal frameworks are in place for all procurement activity as per policy
- Actively champion sustainability and be conscious of Corporate Social Responsibility Policy
- Be aware of the requirement for suppliers to comply with the Primark Code of Practice
- Regular review with manufacturing sites ensuring the level for Ethical Compliance is always at “audit ready”
- Collaborate with Ethical Audit Team on Audit reviews, readiness, CAP issues identified and be the mediator between Supplier and Ethical Team for quicker resolution
- **Operational Effectiveness**
- Through category management, establish a robust supplier base that delivers the required quality, cost and service in compliance with Primark Ethical Trade Strategy
- Use appropriate tools to maximise efficiency and transparency of sourcing and commercial negotiations e.g. eRFX, auctions
- Maintain a current view of overall category spend, supplier data, market intelligence and best practice
- Ensure regular communication with relevant stakeholders
- Ensure all direct reports where applicable have objectives and personal development plans that are regularly reviewed
- ** E-sourcing and Systems**
- Ensure events are scheduled, prepared and managed to deliver best value through e-sourcing tool Scanmarket
- Ensure compliance to Procurement systems policy, such as contract management systems and P2P
