It’s an exciting time to join the Information Management, Systems and Technology (IMST) Team. A major transformation programme is in progress to replace the trust in house Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system ‘Insight’ with the Access Group Rio system. We have refreshed our Digital Strategy and increasing our digital capability to provide better care for our service users and staff.

The successful post holder will work closely with the Data Warehouse Manager and develop interfaces and data loading routines from core systems.

We are looking for someone with who is experienced in managing enterprise level database systems, undertaking regular maintenance, tuning and development of new features, delivering system improvements and leading automation and high availability of systems.
- Strong technical skills including knowledge and experience of using tools in the Microsoft SQL server Stack such as SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, T-SQL.
- Strong Database and Systems Maintenance experience including server configuration, backup fine tuning and monitoring of system performance.
- Support project data requirements such as data import routines using ETL Data skills (Extract Transform and load).
- Lead the delivery of data related systems development and database maintenance tasks.

The post holder will work closely and report into the Data Warehouse Manager and provide leadership for Database related workstreams within the SHSC Digital Strategy and IT Systems Roadmap.

The Database Administrator role based within the Informatics and Architecture Service will provide the trust with expert database management, leadership and high availability of database systems. This role will ensure that trust systems are well maintained, receive regular improvements and support the move to cloud technologies.

This role will lead and advise on new solutions for data capture of clinical and corporate data and work to automate and streamline manual processes. The successful post holder will work closely with the Data Warehouse manager to develop interfaces and data loading routines from core systems.

**Duties include**:

- Monitor and analyse database performance and utilisation to identify and resolve any potential performance issues, capacity planning, and efficiency improvements.
- Lead on regular Database Administration tasks such as system security patching, responding to database and server alerts and identifying areas for system improvement and reducing system vulnerabilities.
- Proactively monitor and respond to database alerts and identify areas for improvement.
- Creation and management of Security Access privileges whilst ensuring that the principle of least privilege is being adhered to.
- Ensuring backups are being performed and that completed backups are routinely tested; performing ad-hoc backup and restore requests.
- Contribute to and maintain technical documentation and operating procedures.
- Supporting the trust Business Intelligence strategy working with the Information Manager, Data Warehouse Manager and Assistant Deputy Director to provide new Business Intelligence capability using PowerBI, PowerPivot and Microsoft Online toolsets.
- Support and develop timely trust wide access to the required Business Intelligence to support dataset returns, operational and performance reporting.
- Ensure data systems are configured with high availability and where possible transition to a cloud first approach for systems supporting the Data Warehouse Manager High Availability roadmap.
- Review and optimise T-SQL code and database design to drive efficiency.
- Develop an open and productive communication with senior managers within the Trust, provide technical guidance and information, participate in meetings and working parties to exploit systems development opportunities, ensuring that database requirements are accurately and appropriately reflected in the technical design and delivery of IT projects.
