You will make a real and positive difference to the people living in our community by being part of a team that delivers services that protect the health of our residents, businesses, and communities through providing advice, support and taking enforcement action where necessary.

**What will you be doing?**
- As part of this role, you will carry out surveys, inspections and investigations, write reports, serve legal notices and present cases in court.
- You will act as an expert witness in Court to ensure legal requirements relating to noise and statutory nuisance, pest control, private water supplies, drainage, planning and licensing are fulfilled. This will include mediating and negotiating satisfactory outcomes to service requests from the public, Councillors and MP’s.
- When necessary, you will respond to major incidents or other emergencies requiring the response of environmental services staff.
- It will be your responsibility to organise your personal workload including maintenance of records, writing of letters and reports and working with other team members to ensure the targets of the team are achieved.
- You will also be expected to lead on one or more functional areas or projects with either a team or wider-service focus.
- Using your knowledge you will contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and review of the team’s service plan.

**What we need from you**:

- You will be educated to degree standard or equivalent, or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of relevant knowledge with experience in an area of Environmental Health.
- It is a requirement that you have a strong ability to communicate, influence and negotiate outcomes, as well as the ability to translate technical issues for non-technical audiences.
- You will have experience in Environmental Health and preferably the environmental protection area.
- It is essential that you have excellent customer service skills and experience in Environmental Health.
- You will be able to manage your workload, prioritise and respond to demands to ensure both customer satisfaction and legislative requirements are met.
