We are recruiting three Supervisors for the Retail Banking Directorate.

Working as a Supervisor in the Retail Banking Directorate, you will be at the heart of supervising firms and individuals in the retail banking and mortgages sector. The Directorate’s remit is exciting and wide ranging. It is responsible for supervising: the largest and most complex retail banking groups; digital and foreign banks; and mortgage lenders, in the UK. The teams across the Directorate work collaboratively on policy and projects, including sector wide cross cutting themes such as the Cost-of-Living Crisis, Consumer Duty, Financial Crime, Access to Cash, Savings Market review, the Provision of Banking Services and more.

What you will be doing
- Engaging with the senior management of firms and influencing them to deliver better customer outcomes, including discussions regarding the culture, business model, governance and systems and controls within their firms
- Analysing firms’ business models and strategies and identifying the key risks of harm, dealing with complex problems, and finding solutions
- Contributing to the development, implementation and oversight of effective and assertive supervisory strategies to address key risks of harm and recommending supervisory interventions where appropriate
- Using data to identify trends, outliers and provide insights to support the Directorate’s work and working on event-driven (reactive) work in response to firm issues and industry developments
- Forming sound judgements on a variety of regulatory topics and communicating these clearly and succinctly to internal and external stakeholders
- Working collaboratively and building strong relationships with stakeholders across the Directorate, the wider FCA and key external stakeholders such as the Prudential Regulation Authority and trade bodies
- Contributing to the wider Department and Directorate, including making recommendations for continuous improvement of our processes, supporting colleagues and identification of sector-wide risks and issues

The skills and experience you will have
- Minimum_
- Experience of analysing data to identify trends, risks, key issues and presenting the results
- Experience of building and managing relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management
- Experience of writing clear, concise, and well-structured reports

- Proven ability to reach sound judgements quickly and clearly from a broad and varied range of information
- Proven ability to balance and manage priorities, with factors often outside of your control
