The Head of Research and Analysis will be the Head of Profession within Essex Police for all performance and intelligence research and analysis. This exciting opportunity will enable the successful applicant to act as the professional lead in shaping andinfluencing the direction of the force, developing and co-ordinating all aspects of performance and intelligence analysis and insight. The successful applicant will help support service delivery to the public, through the delivery of high-level, high-qualityproducts, providing consultancy advice and guidance to our Chief Officer (Executive) Team.

The successful applicant will be a senior leader and a highly skilled analyst, with a proven track record of complex, organisation wide business analysis and will be able to evidence a demonstrable impact in improving performance. They will be comfortableoperating and influencing at the Executive level, including with academics and partners.

In addition, the successful applicant will possess the ability to motivate, direct and co-ordinate the successful delivery of high-quality research, planning, analysis, assessment, and modelling services. To enable this, they will have experience of strategicallymanaging a team of analysts, providing performance management information and or intelligence to an Executive team in either a corporate or public sector setting.

Essential:

- Demonstrable experience as a senior leader, or equivalent experience in a role that operates frequently in a strategic space, consulting and advising at an executive level.
- Highly skilled analyst or researcher, or equivalent experience working with data, information and analytical thinking.
- Proven strong leadership skills, particularly in being able to motivate, problem solve, negotiate, and set and deliver strategy.
- Exceptional communication skills at all levels, particularly in being able to translate highly complex findings to a wide audience.
- Proven ability to successfully manage multiple complex workloads in a demanding environment.
- Proven experience working successfully with internal and external partners and stakeholders at a strategic level to deliver collaborative outcomes and improvements.

Desirable:

- Experience operating within the data science field, or a proven understanding of data science developments.
- Experience working in policing or other public sector environment.
- Practical experience or awareness of evidence-based improvement processes.
