Transport Supervisor

We are looking for an experienced Transport Supervisor to assist the Site Manager with the smooth running of site. You will have previous experience of home delivery & working within a transport office. Some experience within a warehouse/builders/timber merchant would be preferred.

We are currently looking for an experienced Transport Supervisor to join our team working hours Monday to Friday 08.00 - 17.00 and rotating Saturdays 08.00 - 12.00hrs

The Role

You will to assist the Site Manager with the smooth running of the site and you should have previous experience of site and home delivery and working within a transport office.

Daily responsibilities include:

- Supporting the Site Operations Manager ensuring that all processes are adhered to on site and on the road.
- Supporting delivery operations, operating plans, fleet, equipment and resourcing levels to meet demand
- Have a professional manner, be an inspirational and be an inspirational leader communicating consistently on all levels from staff in a yard environment, shop/retail/trade counter, management and through to cash sale/trade counter customers as well as account customers.
- Customer focused, ensuring all colleagues understand the impact their roles and responsibilities have on the affect of the deliveries outgoing and customer expectations.
- If necessary provide solutions to improve performance, of the delivery and general operative staff.
- Work closely with the Site Manager to ensure delivery expectations are set out clearly, realistically and on time.
- Help to Organise service and maintenance of vehicles in line with legal requirements
- Manage driver hours in line with working time legislation, monitoring performance through tracker and customer feedback and react appropriately
- You must work loads using weight calculations, safe loading and to an efficient mapping of a driver route.
- You must plan delivery and loading tickets daily and communicate them with the transport manager so that jobs can be picked accordingly and efficiently
- You will have to check previous deliveries and help check off loads with the site manager to ensure the correct products are received and on occasion gain feedback from customers.

Skills needed

We are looking for an experienced Transport Supervisor with the following skills, experience and attributes to be successful in this role:

- Previous experience within a warehouse/builders or timber merchants would be ideal.
- Good geographical knowledge
- Extensive understanding of transport legislation
- Computer Literacy, ideally efficiency with sage software
- Effective communication style and ability to manage delivery drivers
- Be able to plan in advance for forecasted deliveries to enable jobs to be picked in advance where necessary
- Be able to communicate across all levels of customers and staff
- Understanding expectations

**Salary**: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year

**Education**:

- A-Level or equivalent (required)

- Transport & logistics: 2 years (required)
