Overton Recreational Pub is a busy, thriving, committee managed, sports and social pub located in the centre of Overton on Dee village. Operating for over 50 years as a members only club, it is now a pub open to all. We play a part in our community activities and offer various solutions for a function venue, social events, community groups and socialising. We play host to weekly snooker / darts teams; we have a weekly football team who represent from our pub and also offer twice weekly bingo and regular quiz nights. Customers can also watch live sport.

Our current bar steward and assistant bar person is moving on to pastures new, so we are looking to fill the vacancies as soon as possible. A handover period will be available.

As the Bar Steward / Stewardess, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the pub under the guidance and full support of the Committee / Trustees.

This role typically requires 40 hours per week although this is open to discussion dependent on the applicant’s requirements - hours to be agreed with the successful applicant.

The pub opening hours are:
Monday - Thursday 7.00pm - 11.00pm

Friday - 7.00pm - Midnight

Saturday - 4.00pm - Midnight

Sunday - 3.00pm - 11.00pm

Key responsibilities will include:

- Overseeing and ensuring secure opening and locking up procedures. Act as Main Key holder.
- Being responsible for training, motivating and offering support to your team and ensuring each customer is offered the highest level of customer service at all times.
- Serving beverages to customers in a prompt and efficient manner whilst being aware of licensing laws. Being approachable and having the ability to quickly build a strong rapport with customers; with the ability to handle difficult situations with tact and professionalism.
- Cashing up, till reconciliation, float management and banking.
- Whilst working on the bar, maintain excellent hygiene and cleanliness within the bar area, to include the glassware, shelves, fridges and dishwasher. Also keep the social rooms clean and tidy by regularly collecting dirty glasses, cleaning and re-arranging tables and chairs.
- Maintain excellent hygiene and cleanliness of the wider public spaces to include the main entrance, beer cellar, toilets, committee room, tables, chairs, carpets, and all other cleanable surfaces, and fixtures & fittings that are part of the Licenced Premises. A fortnightly clean of the pipes is required.
- Monitoring stock levels and ordering supplies, including cleaning sundries as needed. Accepting deliveries and placing stock in allocated areas.
- Be innovative and develop and implement ways to increase sales. Advertise sporting and seasonal events and promote the facilities the pub has to offer.
- Assisting the committee in arranging social functions and to ensure the bar is adequately staffed to meet the needs of the function. This could include outside bars.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
- Be vigilant in regard to excess utility consumption. Take monthly meter readings. Monitor heating oil levels and order when required.
- Contact the relevant trades persons in the event of a service breakdown to arrange timely repairs of equipment. This could include heating, lighting, CCTV, etc.
- Be hands on and undertake minor maintenance - not essential but would be a great help.

**Salary**: From £12.00 per hour
