We are currently seeking to employ a Mechanical Estimator to work as part of an existing estimating team based at our Gateshead office.You’ll be part of a team that’s doing incredible things - for ourselves, for the built environment around us, and for a truly sustainable future.
Your new role:
**What you’ll do**:
- Vetting of incoming tender enquiries for suitability and developing a bid strategy to tender
- Producing mechanical estimates for both traditional and design and build projects up to a contract value of £8 million.
- Producing mechanical cost plans for feasibility / budget purposes
- Liaising with the Client and Design teams during the tender process as necessary
- Issuing and vetting of material and sub contract enquiries
- Preparing tender adjudication / settlement documents for senior level approval
- Establishing potential value engineering savings and/or areas of potential risk within the tendered scheme
- Preparing and checking tender letters, technical notes and qualifications for issue
- Contacting clients after tender issue on a regular basis, to assess that the tenders issued are competitive and meet with the clients requirements
- Any other duties as required by Senior Management
**What you’ll need**:
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a Built Environment discipline.
- Estimating experience within a relevant sector in the Construction industry.
- A member of the RICS (Desirable)
**About You**:
You’ll already have experience of estimating for installation of mechanical and electrical services within the commercial, retail, educational, healthcare, domestic and industrial sectors or in a similar role. Excellent IT skills are just as important. You’ll bring strong attention to detail, accurate reporting skills, a professional approach, and a genuine ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
